I have been fascinated with photography from a young age, but in the last decade, I have found more time to dedicate to my passion. I am an eye surgeon, and it is perhaps natural that my interest in the visual sciences attracts me towards photography. Although I take images in many genres of photography, my main interest is wildlife photography.
We share the planet with many species, and whilst photography documents them and their behaviour, I see it as part of a wider effort to raise awareness and help conservation efforts. We need to preserve our planet, not only for ourselves, but for all the species with whom we share it.
During the Covid years we had time to reflect and it was finally my wife who encouraged me to enter photographic competitions saying that “all your photographs are on your hard disk or some on social media, why don’t you enter them in competitions?” I then tentatively entered a few competitions in 2022, and with some success, this became an active part of my daily activities.
I have received over 100 medals from various competitions and various photographic distinctions, including MPSA and BPSA from the Photographic Society of America (PSA), EFIP from the Federation of Indian Photography (FIP). FIP awarded me “Indian Photographer of the year 2024” last year. I was also recognised as a Fellow of the Australian Photographic Society (FAPS) recently, amongst other photographic distinctions.
I always believe in giving back to the organisations I am a member of and am on the International Newsletter team of the Royal Photographic Society (UK) and Nature Division Director for the PSA’s Interclub Competition.
I represent my photography group - India International Group (IndiaInternationalgroup.com) as club representative to the PSA.
